It strikes me that these converts (especially the guys) often have a violent or criminal past, a bad sense of morality and were unable to live a balanced life before. Former failures who cannot just leave this lifestyle but have to embrace something that makes them feel good about themselves. They now have the prospect of punishment and reward, but fail to learn something about empathy and real love.
